My story

I  became plant based/vegan back I'm January 2017. I was having issues with my health - Heart palpitations/arrhythmia, highly inflamed, constantly getting sick, high creatinine levels (kidney problems), gut issues, as well as a sudden change in response with the consumption of chicken and eggs. I decided to remove chicken and eggs from my diet and after a short while, some of the issues mentioned above began to subside. For a few months, the only intake from animal products I had was fish and dairy but then i intuitively came across a documentary called "earthlings". This documentary had quite a substantial effect on me, changing my views on a lot of things especially diet.

The very next day I became vegan. Initially i made this decision to get the best out of my health and training performance, but shortly after that i aligned with the ethical, environmental and spiritual reasons to become and stay vegan. It was and probably will always be the best decision I'll make in my life.

VEGANISM

Veganism is a philosophical way of life, in which the aim is to abstain from the exploitation of animals. This includes diet and clothing. Veganism not only is for the benefit of animal welfare, but also for the benefit of humans and the environment.

* Decrease in inflammation

* Increased blood flow

* Increased energy

*Lowers risk of chronic illnesses

* Can contribute towards expanding your life and the quality of it

* Faster recovery (whether in sport or from illness)

The role of plant based nutrition in sport

* A plant based biet can supply the body with all the nutirents the body needs for optimal health and performance. This includes the essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), macro and micro nutrients, vitamins and minerals

* Can fuel the muscles with glucose (later converted and stored and glycogen), aiding in better muscular contracttions

* An increase in nitric oxide, which will lead to better blood flow and oxygen uptake. contributing towards improved performance and recovery.
